There are pieces that can be worn — and then there are those that can only be inherited.

Obsidian Garden belongs to the latter.

A true Go-mon Kurotomesode, its five family crests mark the highest level of Japanese formality — once reserved only for women of rank and ceremony. The jet-black silk forms a canvas of quiet reverence, while at its hem, an entire garden unfolds in shimmering silk and gold.

Each motif is hand-embroidered using nihon nuido — traditional Japanese silk thread embroidery, where each petal and leaf is layered in gradients of metallic, ivory, and vermilion thread. The level of precision seen here could only have been achieved by a master artisan — every stitch holding balance between restraint and radiance.

The Gosho-guruma (imperial carriage) rests amid chrysanthemums (kiku) and peonies (botan), symbols of longevity, elegance, and feminine power. Their arrangement tells a story of prosperity and grace — an imperial garden captured in motion.

Even the black silk background is alive with subtle iridescence, woven with metallic fibers that glint like constellations across midnight. Inside, the pure ivory lining mirrors the contrast of light and shadow — the mark of ceremonial excellence.
