 ... it's glaze have covered the holes so smoke can't come out.  It's like the yellow house 🏠 💛 

A pastille burner is a device that burns aromatic pastilles to create sweet smelling perfume and to remove bad odours (from poor sanitation). They were very popular in wealthy families in the 16th to the 19th century and especially during the Industrial Revolution.  A pastille was made from charcoal, gum and sweet smelling resins or oils

As the chimneys both have holes 🕳 in them so when the pastilles burn, smoke comes out of the chimneys 

As they are very old antiques, they do show signs of ageing and patina
