The Black Interpreters by Nadine Gordimer (Spro-Cas/Ravan, Braamfontein, 1973, first edition)

A critical Gordimer from the 70s - her offerings on lit publishing practices in South Africa at the time was 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. Highlights important stuff on language, race, power. This is the first edition, but of the first print-run *after* it was quickly censored by the apartheid government. Most of the censoring appearing in the “New Black Poetry in South Africa” chapter (pictured). Obviously.

Important book. The redactions are mad to see now. COMES WITH the uncensored parts attached.

Condition: Good-. These Spro-Cas books, many so important, really broke down quite quickly. This one is still in good condition, but the copyright page is loose (pictured). Otherwise, rest of the book is in good nick with clean, tight pages. Best offer, R620.
