Reason for selling: far too big

I was given these and loved them but I prefer shorts and they are a size too big. They are super funky, comfortable and lightweight. 

They are in great condition but I tied a knot in the elastic in the waist band and am struggling to undo it. I will try but am selling as is for now. Size is an M.
