A beautiful antique Oriental lacquered two‑tier food carrier (often called a wedding basket or ceremonial tiffin).
Constructed of wood with a bent‑bamboo style handle and decorated in traditional black lacquer with gold hand‑painted floral and bird motifs on each tier. These baskets were historically used in China and Southeast Asia for presenting wedding gifts, transporting festival foods, or carrying offerings. The craftsmanship, layered lacquer, and interior script markings suggest workshop production from the early–mid 20th century. A metal carry loop crowns the handle. Now best suited for decorative use due to age.
