Cordyla africana | Wild Mango Tree for sale

Indigenous "Wild mango" is a fast-growing, large, evergreen tree with a straight, single trunk and a wide spreading crown, sometimes dropping willow-like branches when younger, or when laden with fruit.  

It has a strong root system, and does well as a drought resistant tree. The tree's dark green, single-compound leaves make for a beautiful display. It also bears striking orange-yellow flowers (although not in abundance) that develop into edible fruits, each about the size of a golf ball, that start out green and turn a golden yellow (see pictures). 

Cordyla africana is slightly frost-sensitive and requires a moderate amount of water if it is to grow quick. It is a beautiful tree to plant in a large garden, or on the verge between the house and the road.. An often forgotten gem, often overlooked but so easy to grow, pretty and rewarding.

One of my favourite parts of the tree is the beautiful grey-silver & black texture of the bark on mature trees that makes it easily recognisable.  See the video link below for more info.
