Vintage Delft Holland Lidded Trinket Bowl | De Loodgieter Blue & White Porcelain

Most Delft pieces give you windmills, canals, and the occasional peaceful countryside moment.

This one gives you a plumber.

And somehow that makes it infinitely better.

The domed lid features a wonderfully detailed blue and white scene titled “De Loodgieter” — The Plumber — showing a traditional Dutch tradesman mid-task among ladders, rooftops, tools, and a slightly chaotic little street scene that feels alive rather than decorative for decoration’s sake. It has personality. The kind that quietly pulls people closer for a second look.

The bowl itself keeps things more restrained, with stylised cobalt floral motifs wrapping around the base in classic Delft fashion. Together, the detailed storytelling on top and the calmer decorative border below balance each other beautifully.

It measures approximately 10.5 cm in diameter and around 5 cm high without the lid, rising to roughly 7 cm when closed.

Perfect as a trinket bowl, jewellery holder, keepsake box, or simply something interesting to leave sitting on a shelf where people can “accidentally” discover it and ask questions.

Condition is excellent vintage overall. No chips, cracks, or crazing noted. The glaze remains glossy and clean, and the cobalt decoration still has that rich ink-like depth Delftware does so well.

Marked Delft Holland to the base with a factory-style emblem, produced in the tradition of classic Dutch Delft pottery.

A slightly unusual piece that swaps postcard scenery for a working man with tools.

Honestly, that feels far more interesting anyway.
