This is the Dr. Martens 1460 8-Eye Boot in Black Smooth Leather. Launched on April 1st, 1960, this original 8-eye boot is the quintessential Dr. Martens model. It is the blueprint for the alternative style and durability that the brand is known for worldwide.

Key Technical Features

• Upper Material: Made from Smooth Leather, a corrected-grain bovine hide that is sanded and buffed to leave it with a uniform finish. It is famously stiff to start with but can be polished to a high shine or left scuffed for a worn-in look.
• Signature Construction:
• Yellow Welt Stitching: The high-contrast yellow thread that secures the upper to the sole.
• Air-Cushioned Sole: The classic translucent PVC "bouncing sole" that provides oil and fat resistance.
• Scripted Heel Loop: The black and yellow AirWair pull tab.
• Durability: Features a Goodyear Welt, where the sole and upper are heat-sealed and reinforced with a signature welt stitch.

Maintenance & Care
• The "Break-In": Because this leather is stiff, it is highly recommended to use Wonder Balsam during the first few weeks to help soften the hide and help it mold to your feet.
• Shine: You can maintain the semi-gloss finish or restore a scuffed surface using standard black shoe polish.
