Ideal for Montessori-style learning at home or in preschool, this counting board doubles as both an educational aid as well as a cute little feature in the play room.

Montessori Math materials are meant to encourage exploration and introduce mathematical concepts through tactile and sensory experiences. By fostering a sense of autonomy and self-direction, Montessori education empowers students to take ownership of their learning and develop confidence in their mathematical abilities. Children learn to organize numbers in their heads, understand how much space objects take up, and what numbers mean in “the real world” sense.

Maria Montessori believed that children learned most effectively with hands-on activities. Because the children can see and feel the learning tools, they internalize key mathematical concepts much more easily. Montessori Math also a teaching approach that stimulates the child’s five senses: touch, taste, sight, smell, and hearing. So you can use treats or sweets combined with the kit as a reward as well and to bring some color, smell and taste while also creating some extra fun to learning.

The physical wooden word tiles introduces students to learn by using senses and are stimulated to think creatively thus developing problem solving skills and learn by associating. The tray encourages them to playfully practicing math and counting through creative play.

Use anything like pebbles, felt balls, colored beans, pasta, crystals, marbles and just about anything else can make great accessories for interactive learning.

The math kit comes with set of numbers 1-20 and the 4 math symbols as well as disc cut outs for extra fun. You can also paint the little discs to help learn by using colors.
