Angus Buchan- Time on the Mountain 

Throughout history mighty men of God have set themselves apart to spend time with God. When Moses came down from the mountain, the glory of the Lord was upon him; Elijah fled to the mountain and there he encountered God. The Lord Jesus often went up into the mountains to be with His Father. It was during these times that the Father instructed Him. Communing with His Father gave Jesus the power to fulfil His purpose here on earth. "Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do... For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things..." (John 5:19a, 20a).
If Jesus, who was God in the flesh, needed to spend time with His Father; how much more do we need to draw aside to spend time with our Father? God is calling His people to spend time on the mountain'. You may not have a physical mountain you can go to, but you can have a 'spiritual mountain', a place that you set aside in order to meet with God. God will meet you on your mountain. It is there that you will hear from Him, grow in maturity, develop your faith and deepen your love relationship with your Father. Commit yourself to spending regular 'times on the mountain' with Jesus, your Saviour, God, your Father, and the Holy Spirit.
